![]() The other flowers that usher in spring inhabit my bulb bed. Some of the plum trees (pictured above) bloomed first, with the apricots in hot pursuit which put them in the greatest danger of being nipped. We have dodged the late freeze bullet once already, but we haven't made it to safe temps until we get to May. Since winter temperatures did not dip below zero for long this winter, we have hopes that we didn't lose the entire peach crop. My hubby barely had time to complete the trimming and pruning on over 100 fruit trees before they tried to break dormancy. The orchard hasn't delayed it's spring welcome. Half the flats are still empty in the hot house, but the garden is at least started! February usually starts my contribution to the farm as I haul in flats of seeds for the garden to cover the kitchen counters - but THIS year I was doing well to get them done by the end of March. ![]() ![]() My second son, and fourth child, made his debut into this world the end of January via c-section. This year everything seems to be a month behind.like me. February, the month of mud, usually heralds the entrance of spring. ![]() It's been a long winter, although not particularly cold. ![]()
